WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — An earthquake registering magnitude 3.1 was reported by seismologists about 4:47pm this evening, November 16th.
The earthquake was centered about 13.5 miles south-southwest from Mount Vernon. Reports indicate it occurred at a depth of about 18 miles.
No tsunami is expected.
Earthquakes in the magnitude range of 2 to 4 are considered “minor” and likely only detectable by people in the nearby vicinity.
There have been no reports of injuries or damage from the earthquake.
