BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The building permit application for making minor interior and exterior tenant improvements at the former location of Boston’s Pizza Restaurant and Sports Bar has been approved and work begun.

Boston’s closed in March of 2019 and the building has been empty until work began toward opening the Sliced Family Eatery.

Sliced Owner Dupree Brar says he is excited to open the doors but first needs to make a few minor modifications to the building. He told Whatcom News he expects to be open by mid-July, perhaps sooner.

Brar says he has been working in restaurants since he was 9 years old and currently owns 2 Slice of Italy restaurants in Bakersfield, California. Those locations will remain open.

The Sliced menu is going to be broader than the Slice of Italy menus. Brar said quality and freshness are what customers can expect. For instance, pasta is made fresh from dough made daily.

Brar has been working with local Executive Chef Justin Oberg to develop a menu designed around authentic Italian cuisine while providing something for everyone.

There will be, in addition to the main dining area, a game room with arcade games, a bar area and a private dining area.

Brar said grand opening plans are being made.
