An injured bald eagle was rescued from the median of I-5 in Blaine Friday, May 29th, and taken to a nearby animal rehabilitation center.

Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Heather Axtman said 2 WSP troopers and 2 Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife officers responded about 7:35am to the median of I-5 about a mile south of the US-Canadian border for a report of an injured eagle.

They were able rescue and transport the eagle to the Whatcom Humane Society.

Axtman said she was unsure of the nature or cause of the eagle’s injuries.
