High winds have arrived once again in the Ferndale area this morning as forecast. The 6th in a series of windstorms is expected to continue through early this evening and has already brought gusts recorded above 70mph in the Ferndale area.
Puget Sound Energy (PSE) reported an outage that began about 8am in the west Ferndale areas of Sandy Point and Sandy Point Heights. PSE said it impacted over 1000 of their customers. Another outage east of Blaine was also reported about 8am and impacted nearly 950 PSE customers. As of 9:30am, both outage areas had power restored.
As of 9:30am, PSE reports over 10,000 customers across the Puget Sound area are without power.

A weather station near Ferndale High School recorded gusts of 71mph about 8:30am.
Forecasters say the High Wind Warning remains in effect until 7pm this evening. It is expected the most powerful winds will occur “for a few hours Thursday afternoon” according to forecasters.
Another storm system is approaching the coast and is expected to impact western Washington Saturday night and Sunday with rain continuing Monday and Tuesday. Forecasters say we could see a break in the recent stream of active weather by midweek next week.
