Forecast wind gusts over 55mph have resulted in a High Wind Watch being issued.
Forecasters in the Seattle office of the National Weather Service (NWS) have issued a High Wind Watch that will be in effect from Tuesday evening, November 26th, through Thursday morning, November 28th. Forecasters warn to expect sustained northeast winds from 25 to 40mph with gusts to 55mph. The High Wind Watch will be in effect for San Juan, Western Whatcom and Western Skagit Counties.
This morning’s forecast spoke of a warm front arriving on the north coast of Washington Wednesday morning. Precipitation from the front will arrive Wednesday afternoon and evening along with the increasing southerly winds, particularly along the coast and north interior.
A strong surface low is expected to develop offshore to the west Tuesday and move southward to the Oregon and California coasts. This is expected to result in strong northeasterly outflow winds from the Fraser Valley into Whatcom County.
Forecasters warn winds this strong are able to cause tree damage and localized power outages.
