WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the Seattle office of the National Weather Service have issued a high wind warning from 4am to 2pm on Monday, November 4th, due to expected gusts of 50 to 60mph.
The warning statement warns of expected sustained southerly winds of 25 to 35mph with gusts of 50 to 60mph. The warning area includes the north coast, western Strait of Juan de Fuca, San Juan County and western Skagit and Whatcom Counties.
Remaining foliage on trees in the region could result in higher than usual impacts for winds of this magnitude.

Whatcom County Division of Emergency Management (WCDEM) issued a special statement noting potential coastal area impacts as these winds are expected to shift from southeasterly to westerly.
Because the winds are predicted to be from the southeast, swinging around to the west in the late morning, the effects on most of coastal Whatcom County could be impactful. The coastal areas of Whatcom County that should have the strongest winds include Bellingham Bay, Point Roberts, the Lummi Island and Peninsula, Sandy Point, Birch Bay, Birch Point and Point Whitehorn.
Coastal communities in Whatcom County may see minor impacts from tidal effects as the expected storm surge tide is less than 1/4 foot, although it is noted that high tide is expected during the period of highest winds.
