FERNDALE, Wash. — The following will be closed or not in service Monday, May 27th, in observance of Memorial Day, a federal holiday:
- City of Ferndale offices
- Post Office (and no mail delivery)
- Ferndale School District and schools
- Most banks and credit unions
- Most professional service businesses
- Ferndale Public Library
- Ferndale Senior Activity Center
- Ferndale Food Bank
- Whatcom Transit Authority (WTA)
- Ferndale Chamber of Commerce
- Ferndale Visitor Information Center
Many retailers, restaurants and gas stations can be expected to be open and/or providing services.
Memorial Day is the only day when US flags are flown at half-staff except when directed by the US President or the State Governor. On Memorial day US flags are raised to half-staff at sunrise on and left there until until noon when they are to be raised to full staff the remainder of the day.
