First responders were dispatched about 1:30pm today, September 21st, to the 7000 block of Portal Way, north of Grandview Road, due to a report of a rollover crash.
They arrived to find a single vehicle crash with a Volkswagen Jetta on its side and the driver still inside.
According to Whatcom County Fire District 7 Division Chief Ben Boyko, firefighters worked to extricate the driver from the wreckage. He was then transported by medics to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center via advance life support protocol (ALS).
Boyko said it appeared the driver had suffered a medical event.
As of 2pm, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office was investigating.
