FERNDALE, Wash. — The former Leader Block Wine Co. & Eatery restaurant in the Leader Block building at 2026 Main Street in Ferndale closed in July “so major changes could be made,” according to a press release today, Monday, September 26th.

Those changes are now complete, and the restaurant space is expected to open its doors Friday, September 30th, with a new name and extensively refurbished interior.

Leader Block Trattoria & Bar will be serving a rustic northern Italian traditional menu, according to new Managing Partner Roberto Trendel. Main dishes will feature ossobuco (veal shank), halibut puttanesca and vitello parmigiana (veal parmesan). Select wines from Italy, California and the Pacific Northwest will be offered. A selection of desserts will include canoli, tiramisu and decadenza under the direction of returning executive chef Douglas Elliott.

Owner Robert Pinkley brought in Trendel, according to the today’s announcement, and together they completed the remodel with a new look that includes a newly decorated dining room, a larger and refurbished bar that seats 20 people and private dining rooms that can seat parties up to 12.
