
FERNDALE, Wash. — Shawn Eric Linn Sivo, age 38, of Ferndale has been sentenced to serve up to 4.6 years in custody after accepting a plea deal and pleading guilty to reduced charges after being arrested following a high-speed pursuit in January.
Sivo faced several charges in Whatcom County Superior Court after being arrested January 6th and charged with suspicion of the following crimes.
- reckless driving
- possession of a controlled substance
- unlawful possession of a firearm
- 2nd-degree assault
- possession of a stolen vehicle
- possession of a stolen firearm
- 1st-degree of driving while license suspended (2 counts)
- attempting to elude a police vehicle
Sivo’s initial arraignment in court was January 15th and by February 23rd a motion for a guilty plea & sentencing was filed and accepted by the court.
On February 25th, Sivo pled guilty to reduced charges of 3rd-degree assault, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and attempting to elude while endangering others. These are all felony charges with the possession of a stolen vehicle being the most severe with a maximum sentence of 10 years and/or $20,000 fine.
The court ordered Sivo to serve concurrent sentences of 4.6 years in custody for the assault, 4.2 years for possession of a stolen vehicle and 3.1 years for eluding. All are to be split equally between prison-based Drug Offender Sentencing Alternative (DOSA) and community custody. He is also ordered to pay restitution and fines and forfeit any property seized by law enforcement.
Sivo is scheduled to be released from the Washington Corrections Center on October 31, 2023, according to the Washington VINE custody status information database.
