About 7am, 45 Puget Sound Energy customers lost power in Sandy Point Heights this evening, January 3rd. According to neighbors in the area, they also lost water service.

Local resident Brenda Nelson provided My Ferndale News with photos showing a tree that had fallen taking down a power pole in the process and also damaging a water main.
Nelson reported there had been a “river” of water flowing through backyards from the point of the water main break prior to the water supply being shut off. She was told water service would not be able to be restored until the power lines were dealt with due to the danger they presented to the area where repairs were needed.
Puget Sound Energy has been responding to a several local outages stretching from Tacoma to the Canadian border due to high winds across western Washington today. As a result, estimates for restoring power were not being updated.
Nelson speculated the unearthing of the tree’s immense root ball, 20-feet in height in her estimation, was what damaged the water main. She was instructed not to use the water until safety checks of the lines could be done after repairs were completed.
