Details released about fatal Mt Baker Highway crash

GLACIER, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol (WSP) has released details from their preliminary investigation into a fatal crash on the Mount Baker Highway (SR542).

According to a press memo issued late yesterday, Tuesday, November 7th, the vehicle, which was spotted off the roadway by a passerby about 11:20am yesterday, had rolled several times before coming to a stop against a tree.

The 2019 Toyota Prius was westbound when it left the roadway to the right and rolled to a location approximately 150 feet below the roadway according to the WSP.

The driver and only occupant was declared deceased at the scene. WSP identified her as a 67-year-old Bellingham woman.

It is not known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. It was determined the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
