Demonstration against child-trafficking to be held in Ferndale

FERNDALE, Wash. — A Ferndale rally is planned Thursday, July 30th, in recognition of World Day Against Human Trafficking.

The rally is scheduled for 4:30pm on the Pioneer Bridge (Main Street) to bring awareness to human trafficking for labor and/or sex, specifically focusing on the children according to an email from organizers.

The event is organized by volunteers working with the anti-trafficking organization Operation Underground Railroad.

Organizers ask that all COVID-19 health safety measures be followed during the rally including wearing masks and physical distancing.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres recently said in a message regarding the World Day against Trafficking in Persons:

This year’s World Day against Trafficking in Persons honours the first responders helping to end the crime of human trafficking:  law enforcement officers, social workers, health‑care professionals, non-governmental organization staff members and many others working around the world to protect the vulnerable.UN Secretary-General António Guterres – July 20, 2020
