WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — 2 community meetings have been scheduled for Whatcom County residents impacted by the mid-November 2021 flooding events. The purpose of the meetings is to explain various available flood recovery resources and explain the processes involved to receive this assistance.
Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Washington State Division of Emergency Management will be in attendance along with local elected officials and volunteer members from the Long-Term Recovery Group (formerly known as Whatcom Strong).
Topics to be covered include:
- Available assistance programs and aid and how to apply
- Options after receiving an initial denial letter
- Timeline and expectations for receiving aid or assistance
- Additional assistance for unmet needs
FEMA will have teams on-site at both meetings to help people apply for individual assistance.

- Friday, January 28th from 6pm to 8pm at Nooksack Valley High School, 3326 E Badger Road in Everson
- Saturday, January 29th from 10am to 12pm at the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry Street in Ferndale
A Spanish translator will be available at resource tables at both locations.
