WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the Seattle office of the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a coastal flood advisory for Saturday, December 6, 2025, for the hours between 4am and 10am.
- WHAT…Minor coastal flooding expected. Inundation of around 2 feet above ground level is possible along shorelines and low-lying coastal areas.
- WHERE…San Juan County, Lowlands of Western Whatcom County and Lowlands of Western Skagit and Northwestern Snohomish Counties zones.
- WHEN…From 4 AM to 10 AM PST Saturday.
- IMPACTS…Minor coastal flooding due to tidal overflow is expected around high tide. This may lead to flooding of parking lots, parks, and roads, with only isolated road closures expected.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Coastal flooding will occur in the hours around high tide, at around 800 AM Saturday
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.– National Weather Service (December 4, 2025)
Additionally, NWS issued the following statement regarding the expected rainfall across western Washington.
A series of atmospheric rivers will provide rounds of increasingly impactful rainfall starting on Friday and continuing through early next week. Snow levels will remain around 5000 to 6000 feet. Expect rising rivers with potential for flooding especially for rivers flowing off the Olympics and Cascades. Urban flooding and landslides are also possible throughout this period as the soil conditions remain wet.
