Local sweet shop and bakery outlet, Checkered Apron announced the addition of local product offerings from Laura’s Creative Attic.

The Checkered Apron at 5679 3rd Avenue, has been serving up locally famous Barb’s Pies alongside fresh-baked cookies, pastries, soups, sandwiches, ice cream and gift items since opening in 2014. Visitors will now notice the addition of several new offerings from Laura’s Creative Attic of Custer including handmade chocolate truffles, table runners, placemats and shopping bags made popular at the Ferndale Public Market and other local fairs.

Laura’s Creative Attic Owner Laura Edwards started her business in 2010 and is also known for her time as Chair of the Ferndale Public Market. Edwards has been making her popular truffles since 2014.

Visitors can expect to meet Edwards in the store since she will now be making her handmade chocolate truffles on-site.

Checkered Apron Owner Barb O’Brine told Discover Ferndale, “I got a leg up when I first started out and now I’m sharing the opportunity with Laura.”

According to a company announcement, there will be an open house on Saturday, April 23rd, to “officially welcome Laura’s Creative Attic to The Checkered Apron.” Guests can expect to find samples of truffles, candy-covered popcorn, frozen bananas and cake as well as specials on truffles, bulk old-fashioned candy and Barb’s Pies.
