Sen. Ericksen called for a rally "for Alcoa Intalco Works" at 11am today in Pioneer Park.
The annual event typically draws a large crowd with many lined up awaiting the opening of the gate at 9am.
The action was in response to a recommendation from the Whatcom County Health Department to minimize the spread of COVID-19 disease.
Last year's turnout both in volunteers and disposal drop-offs, was by far the largest in the event's history according to FDA officials.
