Northwest Fence, currently operating from a 2.5-acre property at 4214 Pacific Highway in Bellingham, has begun work on a new business location on 4.5 acres at 5531 Hovander Road in Ferndale.
According to permit applications submitted to City of Ferndale staff, the company will be building two metal buildings on a previously undeveloped site zoned General Business on the southeast corner of Hovander and Nielsen Roads. One building will house offices and space for powder coating and assembly of fencing components. The other building will be used to store assembled fencing products, construction materials and provide for afterhours vehicle parking.
City staff recently issued a traffic alert related to the project. Flaggers will periodically be stopping Main Street traffic at the intersection of Main Street and Hovander Road to assist trucks going through the intersection while heading to and from the property.
Northwest Fence has been located in Bellingham since 1986 and operates in Skagit, Whatcom Counties & Western Washington according to the company website. Business information provided by the Washington State Department of Revenue indicates Northwest Fence is part of Western Pacific Fence, LLC of Auburn, Washington.
