FERNDALE, Wash. — On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at about 3:20pm, a motorcyclist led Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers on a high-speed pursuit that was called off, only to have the motorcyclist attempt to flee on foot into the Nooksack River soon after.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Whatcom County Superior Court, a WSP trooper radioed other troopers to watch for a teal green motorcycle northbound on I-5 near the Meridian Street interchange. The motorcycle was observed driving at a high rate of speed.
Other troopers positioned themselves in the northbound lanes further north and observed the motorcycle. When the first trooper activated their emergency lights, the motorcycle, which had slowed after seeing the trooper’s marked vehicle, “rapidly accelerated” and “reached speeds of approximately 120 mph.”
The motorcycle approached a second trooper who activated their emergency lights while the motorcycle continued past at a high rate of speed.
The troopers were advised by a WSP sergeant to terminate the pursuit after the motorcycle had exited I-5 at the Main Street interchange in Ferndale. The troopers observed the motorcycle continuing westbound on Main Street.
While circulating the area, the WSP troopers located the motorcycle parked in the area of 1st Avenue and Cherry Street in Ferndale. The motorcyclist’s pink motorcycle helmet was found discarded nearby. Witnesses directed troopers to where they last saw the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was located in the area of VanderYacht Park and, upon seeing approaching troopers, fled to the Nooksack River riverbank. She had waded into the river about knee deep when a trooper caught up to her and took her into custody.
The motorcycle had been reported stolen and the owner contacted. The ignition switch was damaged and had exposed wires and the license plate was issued to a utility trailer.
Further investigation revealed the motorcyclist, identified as Tina Marie Blotsky, age 41 and of Blaine, had a suspended license and is required to have an ignition interlock device installed on any vehicle she drives.
Blotsky is currently facing the following criminal charges in Whatcom County Superior Court.
- possession of a stolen vehicle (felony)
- attempting to elude police vehicles (felony)
- driving while license suspended (misdemeanor)
- ignition interlock device violation (gross misdemeanor)
At the time of her arrest, she had 2 outstanding criminal warrants in Whatcom County District Court for operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock and 1 in Blaine Municipal Court for resisting arrest.
Blotsky was released from custody on April 7, 2025, after posting a $30,000 bond or $3,000 cash bail. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for April 11, 2025.
