EVERETT, Wash. — Washington State Patrol (WSP) were dispatched to a report of a crash on northbound I-5 in Everett about 9:10pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. A WSP press memo issued later said a Bellingham man was involved in the crash.

WSP said a 51-year-old Bellingham man was driving a 1993 GMC 4000 truck northbound when he encountered a stopped truck in the same lane. The GMC changed lanes and struck a semi-truck and trailer and then struck the stopped truck from behind.
The GMC came to rest blocking 2 lanes, the semi-truck ended up on the right shoulder and the stopped truck came to rest blocking the right lane.
The driver of the GMC was transported to Providence Medical Center in Everett. It was unknown whether he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash nor if alcohol or drugs were involved.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) was reported to be performing paving work that reduced I-5 to 1 lane in the area of the crash beginning at 9pm.
