BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Officials with Western Washington University (WWU) issued an alert tonight, Wednesday, March 1st, after 2 students and a friend reported being assaulted late this afternoon.
According to the alert, at approximately 5pm this evening, 2 WWU students and a friend, all males, were approached and assaulted by 3 men at the corner of 24th Street and Douglas Avenue in the Happy Valley neighborhood just south of campus.

After the physical altercation, the assailants drove away to the south in a dark blue Dodge Ram and the victims headed north to the WWU police station where they reported the incident around 5:45pm. Bellingham Police Department officers responded to the scene and began a search, but the assailants were not located.
The students sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
The 3 assailants are described as White or Hispanic, in their 30s, each having a buzz style haircut and facial tattoos. 1 was last seen wearing a black hoody, another was wearing long board shorts and another was wearing a white tank top.
