UPDATED: I-5 WSDOT concrete repairs in Bellingham expected to impact morning commuters

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Washington State Department of Transportation workers have been working to replace concrete panels in the southbound lanes of I-5 in Bellingham since 6am on Sunday, May 19th. They announced this morning, Monday, May 20th, the work continues and can be expected to impact the morning commute.

The work occurred in the right lane of southbound I-5 between the Lakeway Drive and N Samish Way interchanges.

Monday about 7am, WSDOT officials announced, “The crew tested the concrete and it needs more time to cure. The right lane will remain closed for a few more hours.”

UPDATE: 12:05pm – The lane was cleared and reopened to all traffic about noon on Monday.
