EVERSON, Wash. — Much of the equipment required to accomplish firefighting and keep firefighters safe is expensive and bunker boots firefighters wear are no different.
This is why Division Chief of Training & Safety Darren Branum of Whatcom County Fire District 1 (WCFD1) jumped at the opportunity to win 10 pairs of HAIX Fire Eagle Air bunker boots, a $5,000 value, by entering an online competition.
The community is asked to help WCFD1 toward their goal by submitting a quick vote for WCFD1’s entry in the competition. Votes can be repeatedly submitted once-a-day through September 20th.
The HAIX Firehouse Recipe Battle benefits the Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation and was open to any fire district willing to submit a short video demonstrating the preparation of a favorite firehouse recipe. WCFD1 submitted a video with Volunteer Firefighter Cheyanne demonstrating their peach fire bacon breakfast recipe.
Winners will be decided by the number of votes received. And for each vote received, HAIX will donate $1 to the Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation. Second and third place, as decided by number of votes, will each receive a Visa gift card preloaded with $500 and $250 respectively for their department.
The competition between fire districts is currently down to WCFD1 and a fire district in Ontario, Canada.
HAIX is a footwear manufacturer for firefighters, police and task forces worldwide.
WCFD1 serves the cities of Everson, Nooksack and Deming and the Nooksack Indian Tribe.
