Today’s wind event, which was cause for a wind advisory, fell short of expectations as the high winds happened in the early morning hours and quickly subsided. But the National Weather Service is continuing its advisory about the possibility of more high winds until 3am tomorrow, Sunday, December 6th.
Following that advisory has come a High Wind Watch for Sunday afternoon through late Sunday night.
Winds will increase again Sunday evening with gusts to 60 mph possible.
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. A High Wind Watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph… or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur.
We are still monitoring the Nooksack River level forecast as possible flooding is being predicted for late Sunday through Thursday. Forecasts can vary over time so keep up-to-date on the latest river forecast at Discover Ferndale’s Nooksack River Level page.
