Yardwork fire spreads to, destroys Lynden outbuilding

LYNDEN, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to a report of a structure fire about 4:10pm, Wednesday, March 9th, at the corner of W Bartlett Road and Old Guide Road.

Personnel and apparatus from Lynden Fire Department and North Whatcom Fire & Rescue responded.

Initial reports from the scene were that the structure was fully involved, and property or other structures were at risk nearby.

North Whatcom Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Jason Van der Veen told Whatcom News that the resident was doing yard work involving some burning and the fire got out of hand and spread to an outbuilding.

No one was injured in the fire or in fighting the fire, but some chickens were unaccounted for.
