GLACIER, Wash. — Today, Tuesday, June 27th, Washington State Department of Transportation officials announced the final section of the Mount Baker Highway (SR542) will be reopened to vehicles tomorrow at 8am.

The Heather Meadows Visitor Center and the gate at the Terminal Lake parking lot will be reopened at that time.

Each winter, WSDOT closes the narrow section of road with sharp curves and steep slopes to vehicle traffic to keep travelers safe, while at the same time a portion of the road becomes part of the Mt. Baker Ski Area’s terrain.
