Work crews have arrived along with their equipment and supplies at 2 new significant projects in Ferndale.

On Portal Way, Unity Care Northwest’s North Whatcom Medical Center project is now underway (see photo above).

The 23,393-square-foot two-story facility is planned to open in 2019 and provide primary medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy and lab services to nearly 10,000 north Whatcom County residents.

Another project underway, Malloy Heights, located east of the 6200 block of Malloy Avenue, is a residential development of 192 single family lots across nearly 40 acres. According to information from City of Ferndale staff, lot sizes will range from 4,000 to 8,973 square-feet with an average lot size of 4,758 sf.

Construction of the Malloy Heights development is expected to span 5 to 7 years.
