Winter weather advisory issued for areas above 4,000 feet

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The National Weather Service Seattle office has issued a winter weather advisory today due to expected snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches in areas above 4,000 feet in elevation.

The advisory extends from 3am to 11pm today, May 12th, with the heaviest snowfall expected in the afternoon. The advisory area includes the north Cascade Mountains and valleys of Whatcom and Skagit Counties. This includes the highlands east of Maple Falls, Deming and Acme, including the Mount Baker Ski Area.

Motorists should plan on difficult road conditions in the advisory area.
