Winter storm watch issued due to expected heavy snow in Whatcom lowlands

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — This morning, Monday, December 19th, Seattle office forecasters with the National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for the lowlands of western Whatcom County, including Point Roberts and Lummi Island due to expected snow accumulations.

The winter storm watch is in effect from 7pm tonight through 7pm tomorrow. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are possible.

Wintry precipitation and cold weather are expected as additional weather systems are expected to impact the [western Washington] region through the week, with additional snow expected Tuesday. It will be cold through at least Thursday, with a warming trend expected to begin on Friday in addition to a return to a more typical rainy December pattern for the holidays.
