Winter Storm Watch issued due to expected heavy snow in eastern Whatcom County

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — A winter storm watch has been issued today, Thursday, November 9th, for eastern Whatcom County due to expected heavy snow accumulations over the next 2 days.

The watch, issued by forecasters in the Seattle office of the National Weather Service, will be in place between Friday evening and Saturday evening (November 10th and 11th) for areas above 4,500 feet in the north Cascades in Whatcom and Skagit Counties, including the Mount Baker Ski Area.

Total snow accumulations of 8 to 22 inches possible. Washington Pass [North Cascades Highway] will see more than 18 inches. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. National Weather Service (November 9, 2023)
