WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the National Weather Service Seattle office issued a wind advisory today, Friday, December 9th, that will be in effect from 12pm today through 10am tomorrow.
The advisory warns of sustained easterly winds of 25 to 35mph with gusts up to 45mph across San Juan County, western Whatcom County, western Skagit County, eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Admiralty Inlet Area.
Forecasters warn that winds this powerful can blow around unsecured objects and downed tree limbs can result in power outages.
Forecasters said a “robust frontal system” is expected to reach western Washington areas today. This system is expected to bring “another round of widespread lowland rain, gusty winds, and mountain snow. Precipitation will likely linger into Saturday before conditions begin to trend drier on Sunday.”
