WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — As of 6am this morning, Thursday, January 18th, Whatcom County schools and others have announced the following due to sub-freezing temperatures and slick roads.
- Bellingham Schools – closed for the day
- Bellingham Christian Schools – campus closed – remote learning day
- Assumption Catholic School – closed for the day
- Cornerstone Christian School – no announcement
- Ferndale School District – closed for the day
- Lummi Nation School – closed for the day
- Blaine School District – closed for the day
- Lynden School District – closed for the day
- Lynden Christian Schools – closed for the day
- Nooksack Valley School District – closed for the day
- Meridian School District – closed for the day
- Mount Baker School District – closed for the day
- Providence Christian School NW – no announcement
- Whatcom Intergenerational High School – closed for the day
- Bellingham Technical College – closed for the day
- Western Washington University – campus will open at 10am
- Whatcom Community College – closed for the day
- Whatcom County Library System – all locations closed for the day
- Whatcom Transportation Authority – bus service to resume Thursday morning
- all fixed route buses expected to depart at their regularly scheduled times
- All buses will be chained, therefore traveling slower than usual
- arrive to your stop on time, be prepared for possible delays
- no Flex Service until further notice
- no Zone Service until further notice
- no Lynden Hop Service until further notice
- following routes will start Thursday morning on DETOUR
- Route 1 will travel on Boulevard (will not travel on South Hill)
- Route 512 will travel both directions on Lake Whatcom Boulevard
- Route 72X will travel only as far as the Kendall Fire Station, to be met by a smaller bus that will serve these neighborhoods
- Sanitary Services Co. (SSC) – all routes and trucks not running
- Amtrak Cascades – train 518 between Seattle and Vancouver is canceled today
- Mount Baker Highway (SR542) – traction tires advised, oversize vehicles prohibited
