Over the past four days, 8 teams have battled on the baseball fields in the Pioneer Park Sports Complex to determine which one will represent the north Washington region in the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament.
After dust settled, it was the Whatcom Americans who rose to win the 2015 North Washington 12U State Championship with a 6-1 victory over the Port Angeles’ team, North Olympic.
According to the Ferndale Cal Ripkin Facebook page, this tournament was a potential stepping stone for Ferndale hosting future regional tournaments.
The Whatcom Americans will travel to Meridian, Idaho in two weeks to compete in the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament. The winner of that tournament will advance to the Cal Ripkin World Series in August.
