Wet and breezy start to 2020 is forecast

Weather forecast as of December 29, 2019 from My Ferndale News weather page.

FERNDALE, Wash. — Forecasters with the National Weather Service Seattle office said today to expect “an active pattern for Tuesday through the end of the week with lowland rain, heavy mountain snow, and potentially breezy conditions.”

Forecasters are expecting a series of weather systems to roll through western Washington between Tuesday and Sunday bringing wet and windy conditions. Ferndale will receive some of that active weather.

Tuesday through Wednesday – the first system is expected to bring about a half-inch of rainfall and strong southeasterly winds with gusts around 50mph.

Thursday into Friday – the second system is expected to result in nearly 1.5 inches of rainfall and strong southwesterly to westerly winds with gusts up into the mid-30mph range.

The weekend – temperatures are expected to remain in the upper-30s to the upper-40s all week but then a cool air mass is expected to settle over western Washington by the weekend bringing temperatures down into the low 30s. That, combined with a chance of precipitation, results in a chance of snow and rain in the forecast.
