Weds. crash closes all southbound lanes of I-5 in Ferndale

FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 6:05pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, to the southbound lanes of I-5 north of the Portal Way interchange due to reports of a car versus semi-truck crash with injuries.

Initial radioed reports from the scene were that the front end of a passenger vehicle was wedged under the semi-truck’s trailer.

About 6:45pm, emergency medical services personnel cleared the scene. According to the PulsePoint EMS dispatch log reporting system, no patients were transported from the crash scene.

As of 6:50pm, according to Washington State Patrol radioed reports from the scene, all lanes have been reopened.
