Today’s morning commute – weather – events. Right here in Ferndale.
6:55am: Good morning. This morning’s update is being posted earlier since DF will be monitoring the traffic situation by the high school later this morning. Temperatures around Ferndale are in the mid-50s under a cloudy sky with little to no breeze. Air quality is being reported in the GOOD range.
TRAFFIC
- Washington Street between Vista Drive and 3rd Avenue remains closed to through traffic until October. The official detour route is via Vista Drive and 3rd Avenue.
- This summer’s resurfacing project on I-5 between Ferndale and Blaine is scheduled to continues this evening, weather permitting. As workers add pavement markings over the new surface, drivers can expect the following northbound and southbound ramp closures (one-at-a-time, not concurrently) between 8pm and 6am as well as one lane of I-5 through the work areas between 7pm and 11am as well:
- Main Street Ramps (Exit 262)
- Portal Way Ramps (Exit 263)
- Grandview Ramps (Exit 266)
- Birch Bay-Lynden Ramps (Exit 270)
- Roads around Ferndale High School will take on a new dynamic beginning this morning. Malloy Avenue will be changed to one-way northbound from the Vista roundabout to Seamount Drive to enable school traffic to flow in and out along a singular route while Washington Street remains closed. Expect traffic impacts on Vista, Washington and Malloy. More details here.
