Weather and traffic news – aka The good and the bad

Update 5:05pm
And, as if on cue, the traffic jam reported below has dissolved and traffic in the area is again flowing freely.

Original Story
As many are watching the clock ready to welcome in the weekend, there are a couple things you need to know about.

First and most immediate, traffic on northbound I-5 through Bellingham is a little messed up right now and has been for a while. The backup starts just north of the Iowa Street onramp and goes back to almost to the Lakeway Drive interchange. As backups go, that’s not very long but once all ya’ll get off work and pile onto I-5, it could get a lot worse. At this time the cause of the backup is unknown so we cannot say when it might be cleared.

Secondly, and you can ponder this if you find yourself sitting in traffic, the weather forecast takes an happy turn to warmer temperatures beginning Sunday. The current forecast for the Ferndale area tells of expected highs as follows:

Saturday – 63°
Sunday – 73°
Monday – 78° !!
Tuesday – 74°
Wednesday – 65°

And with those high temperatures comes zero chance of rain until Tuesday. Sunday’s and Monday’s temperatures are expected to break records for those days.
