In case you missed it, there are a few events happening which are making travel through Ferndale far more difficult that normal today. You could call it a trifecta of traffic but not in a good way.
- Slater Road and Marine Drive were closed as a result of minor flooding.
- A city crosswalk project started today that requires closing one lane of Main Street by the library.
- A private contractor returns to working on Washington Street and requires closing one lane.
Item 1 means lots more traffic can be expected through Ferndale today. Item 2 means Main Street, the 1st detour option when Slater Road closes, will not be able to handle its normal volume of traffic. Item 3 means Washington Street (via Portal Way and 2nd Avenue), the 2nd detour option when Slater Road closes, will not be able to handle its normal volume of traffic.
In short, more traffic and less capacity to handle it means drivers need to allow for more time in their travels and commutes today.
