According to a 9pm update, forecasters are pointing to a possibility of lowland snowfall overnight.
According to National Weather Service Seattle office forecasters, as of 9pm there had been some reports of snowflakes mixed in with the rain over parts of the Puget Sound Region this evening. But forecasters are not anticipating any accumulations. Instead, there will probably be a dusting on hills above the 1500 foot level.
Further north across the border, Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for the higher elevations above 650 feet in areas east of Abbotsford due to the possibility of 4 to 6 inches of possible accumulation.
A cold front over British Columbia will move across the area overnight through early Wednesday. This front should be well east of the Cascades by late Wednesday morning.
Forecasters say they will be keeping an eye on the northern lowland zones (meaning Skagit County to the border) as this front passes due to a possibility of the rain changing over to snow behind the front or when the winds switch out of the north. The chance of precipitation remains above 40% until around 7am.
