Shortly after 5am this morning, aid and law enforcement were dispatched to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash on W Smith Road between Hovander Road and LaBounty Drive.
According to Whatcom Fire District 7 Division Chief Ben Boyko, the male driver was transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center for further assessment and treatment.
Tire marks could be seen on the roadway heading westbound on the W Smith Road I-5 overpass, across LaBounty Drive and through the brush along the north side of the roadway. The 4 distinct tire tracks seen crossing LaBounty Drive led law enforcement on the scene to consider the vehicle was traveling sideways at a high rate of speed before rolling and ending up in the brush across the road on the south side further west on W Smith Road.
