FERNDALE, Wash. — City of Ferndale officials announced yesterday, October 25th, that W Smith Road will be closed to all traffic night and day between October 30th and November 30th due to work related with the decommissioning of a pump station.
The City of Ferndale is decommissioning a sewer pump station located about 500 feet outside city limits in the area of Bel West Drive and W Smith Road. This work will require demolition and removal of existing equipment in addition to installing about 600 feet of a new gravity sewer main pipe at a depth of 12 to 14 feet. Much of the work involves utilities under the roadway.
Barricades will be in place at six intersections as shown on the graphic. Through traffic will detour via Barrett Rd, Main St/Axton Rd, and Northwest Dr. Residents and businesses inside the closure zone will be able to access their homes and businesses. The closure is in effect 7 day per week, 24 hours a day for the duration of the project.
