BLAINE, Wash. — The body found in Semiahmoo Park on Semiahmoo Spit on April 7th has been identified by Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office today, April 12th, as Thomas Flood, age 67, of Island County. WCSO has said in a previous announcement the victim had received multiple gunshot wounds and the Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death to be a homicide.
In today’s announcement, WCSO also said they are seeking a person of interest seen on store security video exiting what is believed to be Thomas’ white Ford Econoline van and purchasing items at the AM/PM Gas Station at the intersection of Airport Drive and Bennett Drive in Bellingham.
WCSO had previously announced locating the abandoned van on April 8th in the Fairhaven district of south Bellingham. In today’s announcement, they clarified it was located in the early morning hours.
WCSO is asking the public for any information leading to the identification the person in the photos below and any sightings of the van in Whatcom County between the hours of 4am and 4pm on April 7th.
Information can be provided to the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes tip line at 360-778-6663 or 911. Chief Deputy Kevin Hester reminds the public, “Detectives are actively working this investigation around the clock in Whatcom, Skagit, and Island counties, and any information, no matter how small you might think it is, could be the tip needed to break this investigation wide open.”
