US resident arrested at border with pistols, sentenced to 30 months in prison

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that on April 26th, Jonathan Ressler, age 46 and an United States resident (city/state not identified), was sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to the possession of loaded, restricted and prohibited firearms without a license.

CBSA said that on March 19th, Ressler was seeking entry to Canada at the Pacific Highway port of entry in Blaine and he was referred for a secondary examination. A search of his vehicle revealed 2 loaded pistols and 4 prohibited overcapacity magazines. 1 of the pistols is a prohibited firearm and the other is a restricted firearm.

CBSA officers arrested and charged him for smuggling and possessing the firearms and prohibited magazines. He remained in custody pending the resolution of his court case.
