Updated Windstorm Forecast

stock graphic - high wind warning sqAccording to latest the forecast models, the windstorm headed toward Ferndale today, Thursday, December  3rd, is expected to be short-lived but packing a wallop.

While the National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning from 2pm to 10pm today, their 8am forecast says the high winds are not expected to reach the Ferndale area until late afternoon and will last a couple hours.

Southerly winds are expected to pick up to 25 to 40 MPH and gusts to 60 MPH are possible.

Warmer temperatures have accompanied the weather systems rolling through yesterday and today. A record high temperature of 60° for December 2nd was set at the Bellingham Airport monitoring station yesterday, breaking the old record of 58° set in 1958. The temperature in Ferndale as of 9am today had already reached 58°.
