FERNDALE, Wash. — A 68-year-old Marysville woman who was the victim of a hit-and-run incident at the southbound I-5 Custer rest area has died according to the Washington State Patrol.
The victim, identified as Cynthia L Stitt, was struck by a car while standing in the southbound I-5 Custer rest area parking lot on October 4th about 3:30pm. The car then left the scene. Whatcom County Fire District 7 Division Chief Ben Boyko said medics transported the woman to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center in critical condition.
WSP detectives say they continue to examine all aspects of what led to this collision and are seeking additional witnesses to not only the collision but also the events immediately before or after the collision and the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle, described as a red or orange 4-door passenger car that witnesses described as possibly a Chrysler 300 or a Dodge Charger.
