A few of the fire and aid units who responded to Alcoa Intalco Work’s administrative offices to investigate a report of smoke in the building found themselves able to quickly respond instead to a two-vehicle accident at Douglas and Elder Roads just a half-mile away.
First responders found both vehicles facing south in the ditch south of the intersection. Both vehicles had front end damage. There was no official word at the time about any injuries.
Neighbors say the intersection is a two-way stop for traffic on Douglas Road but given the number of accidents there it should be upgraded to a four-way stop.
