LYNDEN, Wash. — Whatcom County Public Works officials yesterday, July 23rd, issued a warning about a log jam on the Nooksack River that poses a hazard. Log jams and other river debris can quickly pull and trap water recreationists underneath.

Their advice is to put in downstream of the hazard. Public Works Communications Program Specialist Marie Duckworth provided Whatcom News the approximate location of the logjam since many are likely not familiar with the Abbott Levee location.
