Following the December 2025 flood, Whatcom County has observed continued erosion along the riverbank near Truck Road that is actively threatening the roadway. To protect the road, contractors will install approximately 430 feet of buried rock trench along the edge of the County right-of-way, tying into an existing 1999 project.

All work will occur outside the active river channel to protect habitat and minimize impacts to fish and other aquatic species.
