A pickup truck on the corner from Washington Street onto 2nd Avenue failed to negotiate the turn and jumped the curb on the east side of the road and took out a medium size tree and two racks of mailboxes Tuesday afternoon.
Ferndale police responded right away according to neighbors and the driver was located nearby.
According to Ferndale Police Lieutenant Matt Huffman, the 17-year-old driver was cooperative. There was no reason given in the police report as to what caused the pickup to leave the roadway.
Neighbors say it happened shortly after a heavy rain following the recent warm weather.
