FERNDALE, Wash. — Officials with Whatcom County Public Works said Slater Road will be closed by 5pm today, November 14th, due to water and debris over the roadway.

As of 3pm, there was water and debris across both lanes and a speed reduction in place east of the Nooksack River bridge. Officials said a high tide may have exacerbated river and surface water flooding in the area.

Once closed, Slater Road traffic in both directions will be detoured via Main Street in Ferndale.
